I have taken a small hiatus, but I’m back! Meanwhile, time to catch up on blogging. Here is a family I photographed a while ago. It’s always fun having little kids as subjects, but they can always behave unpredictably. I got a great bunch of kids at this family shoot though. it was fun!
I have been shooting headshots here and there for up and coming actors and models. Headshots have a cleaner look than the average portrait photo and require much more attention to detail regarding lighting and facial features. So far I have enjoyed them and I plan on taking more!
I have never done any sports shots or portraits before, so when I was asked if I could do hockey portraits, I took the challenge!
If you have ever been at a skating rink or sports arena, you know that the light can be bright. Bright arena light is great for pictures, right? The athletes can see where they’re going and you can see all the surroundings clearly. Wrong! Arena light can be AWFUL for portrait photography. Shadows from all the different lights can mess with the picture and it can be a white balance nightmare! Luckily, here is where off camera flash (OCF) comes into the rescue! Having a good and powerful light source can turn a sports portrait from mediocre to Amazing! Action shots will most likely be taken without flash because of fast moving subjects but in a portrait setting even a small speedlight can be your best friend.
Riley is a hockey champ! He is good at what he does and he even showed me some cool tricks. I tried to imitate his awesome skills but wearing regular shoes doesn’t really work on the ice. Luckily I didn’t fall this time. My feet were freezing by the end of the session though. haha. Riley plays for the Dawgs! He’s an awesome hockey player and he’s only getting better every day! GO DAWGS!!
AFTER!!!! OCF Rocks!
Happy Picture Taking!
The Diaz family? What can I say? They are THE best! I’ve known them for quite some time now and they always make me laugh. You can tell from the pictures, that the boys are big goofs! 😀 They had me laughing a lot and the whole session went by so fast because I was having fun. Man, being a photographer is awesome!
I first met Jessica back in college (she’s the one wearing the white blazer). Who knew our paths would cross later? Jessica’s family was in town and they decided to have their family pictures taken. They are all super photogenic and super talented 😀 They are a wonderful family and I was glad to have met them.
